Die Neuseeländer Band THE BLACK SEEDS verbinden Dub, Funk und Soul mit klassischen Reggae Sounds. Eine Mischung, mit der sie weltweit eine Vielzahl an Fans für sich gewinnen konnten.
Ihr Album Into The Dojo (SBCD0009/dem roots) war einer der großen Erfolge von DANIEL W. BESTs Sublabel in 2007.
Nicht wenig dazu beigetragen haben die furiosen Live Performances mit achtköpfiger Band, die zu den spektakulärsten Neuseelands gelten.
Seit Gründung der Band im Jahr 1997 haben THE BLACK SEEDS in ihrer Heimat einmal Gold- und zweimal Doppelplatinstatus mit ihren Alben erlangt.
2008 wird erneut das Jahr der BLACK SEEDS. Für den Sommer sind sie auf den wichtigsten Festivals Europas gebucht. Zwischen Mai & August spielen sie mehr als 20 Gigs. Sie sind dabei auf der Summer Jam / Köln, dem Splash Festival / Leipzig, Roskilde / Dänemark, Standon Calling Festival / UK, Castle Palooza Festival / Irland, Garance Festival / Frankreich, Bloom Festival / UK uvm.
Slingshot ist die erste Auskopplung ihres neuen Albums, welches diesen August erscheint. Ein raues Reggae Stück mit einem unwiderstehlich deepen Groove, das die große Vorfreude auf das Album noch steigert und die großen Erwartungen noch übertrifft. Auf DK026/dem roots in der Radio Version.
Als Bonustrack gibt es den Shazzy Dub, ursprünglich erschienen auf dem 2004er Album On The Sun. Ein tolles Roots Instrumental mit tighten Horns und fettem Beat. Ein tolles Extra, besonders für Hörer, die das Album damals verpasst haben.
Slingshot ist die Single, die einem das Warten erträglich gestaltet, zur Zeit ist die Band im Studio, um dem bevorstehenden Album im Studio den letzten Schliff zu geben. Das darf man au keinen Fall verpassen. Auf alle Fälle sollte man eine der vielen Chancen nutzen, die fantastische Live Show von THE BLACK SEEDS in Europa zu sehen.
